Primary Goals & Objectives

Goal #1:
Honor our founding roots in The Woodlands and enrich and expand transformational opportunities for our students.

As one school with pathways integrating three divisions, we will endeavor to strengthen the School’s partnerships with corporations and community organizations within the greater area of The Woodlands, while enhancing its academic, advancement, and enrollment aspirations.  Building upon the strong relationships with alumni and parent networks, Cooper will create hands-on, real-world experiences for students by bringing “outside-in” experiences into the classroom and campus.

Goal #2:
Deepen our commitment to academic excellence, scholarship, and transformational learning while cultivating innovative practices that prepare students for a constantly changing world.

Cooper’s challenging education is at the core of our mission. While implementing a strong curriculum, our faculty encourage students to explore, analyze, and synthesize, and our classes promote the acquisition of strong written and oral communication skills. Looking to the future, we will build on our excellent foundation by ensuring students are challenged to think both independently and collaboratively about ways to apply their knowledge to real-world experiences. This approach, combined with our continued commitment to developing skills in problem-solving, communication, creative thinking, and global fluency, ensures students’ preparation for our rapidly changing world.

Goal #3:
Sustain Cooper's whole-child approach in a caring and supportive environment.

Cooper’s whole-child approach is central to our school’s mission and philosophies. The caring environment in which we provide a challenging education is key to overall student success, and endeavoring to address the emotional, social, physical, and ethical needs of our students, in addition to the intellectual needs, is what the whole-child approach is all about. As we look to the future, we will sustain our whole-child approach by ensuring students are nurtured and supported in a school environment that is not only conducive to learning, but also helps foster intellectual and artistic passions while equipping students with social-emotional skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

Goal #4:
Identify, recruit, retain, develop, and support the most qualified, dynamic, and effective faculty and staff for our diverse school community.

Cooper will continue to attract and retain faculty and staff who are growth-oriented and who want to contribute to a caring, supporting, and holistic educational environment, while taking intentional steps to empower and support faculty and staff in their professional growth. Through individualized professional learning opportunities centered on the skills integral to The John Cooper School’s academic standards and the desired student experience, we will endeavor to maintain Cooper's distinction as a school of choice for independent school educators in the southwest region.

Goal #5:
Ensure that Cooper grows with purpose, developing programs, enrollment, and facilities to strengthen and further build on the student experience.

Looking to the future, we will reimagine the campus master plan to support the School's enrollment priorities and plans for strategic growth. The School will proceed with the development of new facilities, expanding opportunities for students across campus while enhancing the student experience. We will continue to foster a culture of philanthropy and explore partnerships to support our initiatives, while ensuring Cooper remains an accessible option for families.
